Good decision by the UConn coaches, staff members and others in the sports programs. Better to be proactive about these issues than to deal with a mess later.

STORRS, Conn. (AP) _ University of Connecticut coaches, staff members and others in its sports programs will be required to report any suspicions of sexual and child abuse under new rules approved by UConn’s trustees.
The board voted Wednesday to approve the policies.
They come in the wake of the child sex abuse scandal at Penn State, where a former assistant football coach is charged with molesting 10 boys and two school officials are charged with failing to properly report the alleged behavior.
